Challenging Death: The Death Penalty in Florida

This presentation concerns the various methods for challenging the legality, ethical legitimacy, and practical efficacy of the death penalty, both in the United States in general and in Florida particularly. After outlining how the death penalty is imposed and the legal procedures for challenging the sentence, the presentation will highlight some of the recent, successful challenges to the death penalty and how anti-death social movements might want to build on that progress. The latter half of the presentation will open the floor to a critical thinking workshop and Q&A session to discuss future tactics for challenging the death penalty.
