Reconceptualizing the Body

The workshop will be a participatory performance in which viewer/performers will move about the space and explore their bodies in various ways- reflecting on personal relationships to their bodies and then with the bodies of the other participants. This workshop hopes to re-contextualize considerations of one’s body in an aesthetic fashion that draws attention to the ways we understand the margins of our spaces. The workshop will be an hour long. Beginning with breathing exercises, the workshop will then move into individual movement work and then coalesce into an action or form that everyone in the group creates. At the end of the workshop, there will be time for discussion and reflection. The group will organically design what movements become the most fitting for the bodies present and how that movement can translate outside the performance space.
